Something Wonderful

I was cooking dinner and my youngest had pushed a chair over next to me so he could stand on it.  He loves to watch me and help me cook.  Well, my mustard cream had started bubbling and then I heard the softest little voice say it..."Bubba!  Bubba!"  I almost cried.  It was so darn cute.  It's not his first word.  When he was around one he said words, but then he stopped.  And today...he said "Bubba!"  And he kept saying it as my cream sauce bubbled on, and when we were playing with bubbles later. 

He also uses three signs consistently and correctly.  "More," "please," and "drink/eat."  (He uses the same one for both, that is fine with me, lol).  He sometimes does the sign for "ball." 

He's growing up.  :-(

Moving a long

Doing the normal things.  The kids and I weeded and clipped bushes today.  We also laid some top soil and planted some seeds for "Butterfly flowers."  Aka flowers which will attract butterflies.   Still working on housework and watching a movie for tonight.

I would really love to win the lottery.  Just enough to fix up the house like I would like and buy out Alan's contract in the Navy.  Not asking for much, huh? LOL

Buggy Update

I talked to someone who knows about termites, and I described what I was seeing to him.  He told me it doesn't sound like I have a termite problem.  He said it sounds like I have a wasp problem, lol.  Eh, wasp, termite...they are all still bugs that annoy me.  lol

Anyway, he is going to come out and give a free inspection just for my peace of mind.  It's been over two years since our last inspection, so he recommended we have one anyway.  Peace of mind is worth a lot!  I should know, I just spent 2 hours at a hospital to have Alexia's cast check because she spilled milk on it.  The doctor told me not to get it wet, so I thought it wasn't fiberglass, lol.  Anyway, I waited for 2 hours for the cast lady to look at me like I was short a few fries of a happy meal when I told her I was worried about the milk soaking in and festering over the holiday weekend.  Hahaha.  Basically the visit consisted of a raised eyebrow, a curious look, and the comment "Milk can't soak into fiber glass."  Two hour wait for that.  Bwhahaha.  Score one for my kids so sucking out my brain cells! 

I have peace of mind about the cast though, and that makes me feel better!  And I feel better about the termite thing too, after talking to the guy at the Pest Control place.  He didn't sound like he was going to give me a run around about anything.  Did you know it costs anywhere from $600 to $1200 to bait for termites?  ::clutches her heart::  I sure hope I just have wasps and winged ants like the guy thinks I do. 

This bugs me

Just what I need.  Termites!  I hope, hope, hope, hope I'm wrong!  But I caught two sneaking around on my deck today.  And now I am even more suspicious of the mud pack in the corner of my garage with perfect holes in it. 

Cross your fingers that this isn't as buggy a situation as I think it might be. 

Cast update

Her arm is slowly, slowly healing.  Three more weeks in the big cast, then we go for another x-ray.  At that time she might go into a short cast or a brace.  So we are in for a summer of healing.  She's bummed there won't be a sprinkler this June, but I told her if she went to a brace, we could take that off for a few minutes for a bath.  That cheered her up. 

An angel...

...left a bag of clothes on my door when I went out to get gas and bread, etc.  There was quite a bit.  About 4 pairs of shorts for Robby and 5 shirts, and a shirt for Alexia. 

I'm pretty sure I know where to find the angel, I'll have to give her a call.  ::smile::

I wish I had a hybrid

$15 for 4 gallons of gas.  Holy Moly.   I wish I could have gotten at least 6 gallons.

Trying again!

I didn't get anywhere finishing my last entry, lol.  My nearly two-year-old decided I was finished typing and pushed in my keyboard and tried to close my blog, so I saved it quickly, lol. 

My daughter was playing in a Mall Play area and she tripped over one of the padded pieces in the area and fell off the platform and landed on her arm.  There were barely any children in the play area, she was just standing there.  Just one of those freak accidents that happen.  I knew right away that her arm was broken.  I saw her fall, I heard the snap.  I went towards her and she stood up and her arm bent at the wrist, bent at the elbow, and it bent in between.  Um, that wasn't right.  I ended up putting her into my youngest's stroller and carrying the baby and pushing my daughter to get her out of the mall quickly.  I braced it with a magazine and put some ice on it before picking up my Preschooler and letting the school know that I would call if I was going to be past the end of school.  I didn't want my oldest to be dropped off to an empty house.  :-(  It all worked out OK, though.  We got home in plenty of time. 

Positive thoughts would be appreciated.  We go in for a check on Wednesday to make sure her arm is healing properly.  We will find out how much longer the cast stays on at that time.

With the exception of my daughter's arm and some other personal issues, life is coming along OK.  We went to a library event today that was very cool and nicely put together.  It was a Family Fiesta, celebrating May/Spring.  They had music and books in both Spanish and English.  We learned some phrases in Spanish.  They had snacks, and books, and crafts.  And they had wonderful door prizes.  Aidan won a gift certificate for the Grocery Store and Robby won a Picture Dictionary of Spanish words.  Very cool. 

The kids and I are trying our best to stay busy.  May is indeed very busy for us.

 

Pink Princess

She's broken :-(

She has a pretty cool cast, though!  Very bright pink with sparkles.  The sparkles don't show up very well because of the flash.  But they are essentially very big glitter. 

Bottling up

Things are going along here.  It seems I'm trying to fit so much into every day and handle everything in an organized and calm way, that what is happening is I've got all this stuff floating around in my head and it's all starting to bottle up.  I'll get through it, though, and this too shall pass.  Hopefully the cork doesn't pop off before I'm ready though, lol.

I can't believe it's the last month of school already.  This school year flew.  It's going to be another very busy month.  Soccer is starting up again this week.  It's going to be easier on me this session, though.  Jacob and Alexia's age division only has four teams, lol.  So their games are at the same time every week and they play each other for four of the eight games.  Nice.  I'll just have to stay in the middle for the other four games.  ::smiles::

I am sure I have a ton to write about, but I'd rather just let it float in my head.  It seems safe there for the time being.  There were times when something funny happened and I thought "I should write that in my journal," but of course other things happened and the moment passed.  All four kids are doing pretty well.  They are excited for the summer coming up.  Well, except for the youngest, he doesn't really care much yet.  He has enjoyed getting outside to play with his brother's and sisters, though.
