Life has been pretty busy as of late. I have still been trying to stop in here, though.
I won't be working full time after all this summer. I think I will be phasing out this job over the next nine months. Or shorter. I am having a hard time working for someone who can't communicate. Communication is a big thing with me. I'm all about communicating! LOL I finally cornered my friend (my employers mom) and asked her what her daughter was doing. She said she has signed up the youngest for day care three days a week starting early June. Even though my employer had told me he would be bringing him every day here. And of course my employer never mentioned this, I would have never known if her mom hadn't mentioned it to me a couple of weeks ago. I was really counting on the money. I feel bad now that I can't do all I had planned to help the family out. :( But really, the more I thought about it, the more I actually regretted saying I'd work full time. Talk about feeling chained to your house with six kids! :-)
Aidan had his ARC meeting today and he's doing OK. He will go to Kindergarten with an IEP. Apparently he has a really hard time with numbers. I didn't know this. Like, he can't associate the numeral 3 with the physical number of 3. (just an example, it is for all numbers). He can count in a line, but he really can't count objects and know that that is how many objects are there.
Alexia was convinced she had broken her arm yesterday. I told her she was fine and she went to school today. The phone calls started at 9 AM. "Alexia is here in the clinic saying her arm hurts." And she continued to complain about it all day. They gave her some ice, and I explained the situation to the Nurse and I checked on Alexia when I went in for a meeting today. She was doing OK, but still saying it hurt, even while she moved it all around. So she comes home from school today and lies on the floor crying and crying and crying. I told her she was OK. She just sprained it. (No bruising, no swelling, and she was moving it just fine when she wasn't thinking about it). She cried and cried and cried. I think this all goes back to last year at this time when she DID break her arm. So, I looked at the clock. 5 PM. I said "OK, hurry up and we will go get it looked at." For peace of mind. We are lucky and we have kick butt Insurance, so going down to get it looked at wasn't that big of a deal. Like I said, we are lucky. They took an x-ray and checked her out and told her it was sprained. I guess she needed to hear it from a doctor, because she has been fine since. Amazingly, no more pain. Then entire trip was pleasant. We arrived around 5:15 and were out by 6. It was great. There were a couple of adults in there and they complained when Alexia was called right back, and our Nurse guy explained to them that he worked for the Pediatric and they were separate than the adults. (I go to an ER with a "Children's Pavilion." Aka, they go to a different hallway and most of the cubicles have TV's, lol). If you go early, it's usually not that bad. Late at night it's a nightmare, though.
So we did that and came home and ate. I'm not sure what I am going to do tomorrow. No babysitting! I forgot to mention that I was told last week "Monday's and Friday's until I leave (the Grandma)" but I guess there are stipulations on that. Whatever. Just be here early in the morning or I won't be here for you to drop off to! Next week is busy as usual. I'm taking my three oldest kids into the Dentist for the first time next week. Wish me luck! My youngest was checked out during his Preschool screening. They have someone there to peek at his teeth to look for cavities. None. My Dentist won't see them if they are under three. I told them how close he was...maybe over the summer we can get him in. While our Health Insurance rocks and our Dental Insurance is pretty good, we don't have a lot of choices of Dentists. Definitely no Pediatric Dentists.
Jacob is doing OK so far. ::knocks on wood:: The one thing that concerns me a lot is he won't eat anything substantial. Just junk. So I'm kicking all the junk of our house and he eats good food and that's it. He is suddenly saying at meal times that he doesn't want his mouth to be wet. How odd is that? But it does concern me. He's already pretty skinny. 56 pounds at 8.5 years old.
